Description
The project aims at preventing saline water intrusion from Vembanad kayal in
summer season and there by protecting the agricultural lands scattered in various
panchayath including Ambaloor,Udeyamperoor,Mulamthuruthy and Chottanikkara
as well as in the areas of Thrippunithura panchayath.This structure is 62m length
and contain 3 vents of clear span 12m and 1 vent of 9m.The lock portion is 40m
length with clear span pf 6.00m

Pile boring works for both lock portion and regulator portion completed. Total no of piles 72nos(lock wall portion-56nos and regulator portion- 16nos)
Due to the heavy rain, as per the request from local bodies, the ring bund across the river partially dismantled to ensure the discharge of water from river and also the river flows over the ring bund of lock portion. After the pile foundation work, it has been difficult to proceed with the pile cap & solid apron work at site since the water level in the river is high due to the heavy rain.
